[Solved] we’re sorry something went wrong that might make powerpoint unstable

Hello everyone, our customer came with such problem on Office 2013 Power Point,

during save the Power Point Project , it failed with error

“we’re sorry something went wrong that might make powerpoint unstable. Please save your presentation and restart Power Point”

Solution:

Problem occurred due to the power point project previously was saved   for Microsoft power point 97-2003 and after reediting in office 2013 which some feature used no longer compatible with 97-2003 version, so  the solution is to save the document again and change the file type as” PowerPoint Presentation” suppose with  the file name will have an extension of *.pptx instead of *ppt.

The issue is NOT solved but has a work-around here. Saving a ppt as a pptx works but changes the code responsible for the problem. It’s another known bug that backslashes in hyperlinks get converted to slashes with pptx, making hyperlinks not function anymore. A work-around for that other bug is to use the older ppt format. The two work-arounds are conflicting now.

I faced this as well.

In my case, it was 2 pivot charts pasted from an excel file which in the temp folder/ not saved somewhere.

After breaking the links to the excel files, I was able to save the file. I had a few hyperlinked shapes, but they weren’t the issue

I solved it by switching off my cloud drive.
Unsatisfactory – but it worked.

I hate clouds anyway!
